1. Who we are
OnlineTuition.mu is operated by Choolun Education Ltd, a company in the Republic of Mauritius. We are the data controller for the information described here.
2. What we collect
- Account: name, email, phone, grade, school (optional), gender, avatar choice, and optional parent/guardian contact.
- Learning: subjects, lesson progress, quiz results, points, badges and streaks.
- Payments: plan, amount and status (card details are handled by our payment providers, not stored by us).
- Security & device: device type, app version, IP address and approximate location (city/country), and sign-in times.
3. Why we collect it
To give you access to lessons, track your progress, process payments, send the messages you've chosen, and — importantly — to protect your account. We use device, IP and approximate-location data to detect suspicious logins and prevent account sharing, as described in our Terms.
4. Children & parental consent
Many of our students are under 18. Registration asks for parent/guardian details and consent. Public student profiles only ever show a first name and last initial — never an email, phone number or full name — and there is no student-to-student messaging. A parent or guardian may contact us to review or remove their child's information at any time.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account and learning data while your account is active. Security logs (IP and approximate location) are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data except where the law requires us to keep certain records (e.g. payment receipts).
6. Who we share with
We use trusted providers to run the service — video hosting, payment gateways (PayPlus, PayPal), messaging (WhatsApp/SMS/email) and analytics. They only process data on our instructions. We never sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.
7. Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act 2017 you can access, correct, or ask us to delete your personal data, and object to certain processing. Manage most of this yourself in Settings → Privacy & Security, or contact us for help.
8. Contact
For any privacy request, email privacy@onlinetuition.mu. We respond within the timeframes set by Mauritian law.
